Simple answers have always been my favorites.
The shorter the better.
However, if you want to get know someone, then a lengthy answer is appropriate.
Those you can delve into someone’s life, explore and discover.
For this entry, let’s look at the “yes” and “no” answer.
First of all, yes does not always mean yes.
And certainly, when someone says no, it does not definitively mean no.
It depends of the preceding question.
It depends upon the anticipated follow up response.
It may even depend upon one’s truthfulness.
In recent days, our website has put into place an “unsubscribe” option.
There have been several on our email distribution list that have opted out.
When I am notified by email of them opting out, I wonder what was the reason.
Poor writing?
Not their subject of interest?
I do not take it personally.
We are not selling anything.
We do not publish questionable subject matter.
In fact, the whole website is based on hope and encouragement.
Maybe it’s just not where they are at this point in their life.
So, the word “no” does not bother me.
Nor does it deter me.
Nor should it deter you.
This next week you are going to want to accomplish and succeed.
In your professional and personal life.
We all do.
There are going to be circumstances that would hinder us from those accomplishments.
If on Monday morning, when you get your first no, is your week ruined?
Not even a little.
If anything, it should make you even more determined.
It seems so cliché, but a no is only a part of a conversation to a yes.
This past week, I listened as a colleague said they made 1,000 phone calls before they put their first deal together.
They would not accept no as the definitive answer for their life.
Nor will I.
Nor should you.
Don’t take it personal.
Just keep pushing.
There are a lot of highly trained, highly educated people that follow our site.
Yet, no amount of training, nor degree, can teach determination.
They can cheer for you and coach you, but only you can make you go further, no matter what.
Determination comes from within.
Find yours.
“I am determined to obey you until I die.” Psalm 119:12
