I have the opportunity almost every day to make at least fifty to one hundred first impressions, if not more, at once.
But there is one thing for sure.
There is no second chance at making a first impression.
Depending upon the impact of the first impression, the second, third or a continual line of impressions will not erase the first one.
From one of my literary heroes.
“Whenever we have something that we are good at–something we care about–that experience and passion fundamentally changes the nature of our first impressions.”
Malcolm Gladwell – Blink – The Power Of Thinking Without Thinking
Maybe you are one of those people what do not care what other people think of you.
There are a few who truly do not care.
Most that say they don’t care, actually do.
But for those few.
And though there is a balance, if one is void of any relational, cultural or societal feedback, then one has no measurement as to the impact, whether positive or negative, that they are leaving with others.
Today, you left a first impression somewhere on someone regarding something.
You may never see them again, but the impression was made.
Tomorrow you will have another chance at a first impression.
Not at making a correcting impression on those you interacted with today.
But certainly on those which you will interact with in the future.
